How to Make Bacon Hearts
Odds are that if you eat pork, you love bacon, right? Even turkey bacon is pretty good these days for those opting for a healthier option. One of my favorite things to do on Valentine’s Day is to make a special breakfast for the boyfriend. Trying to think of ways to make breakfast sweet and romantic while still using some of the boyfriends favorite breakfast foods, I settled on bacon hearts as being the perfect item.
So, how does one make bacon hearts? The process is fairy easy – at the very least you need a baking, bacon, preferably thick cut, and an oven. I also suggest using foil and a rack just to make clean up easier. You know me, I’m all about easy clean up since unfortunately one of my Valentine’s Day gifts will not be the gift of not having to do dishes. If you’ve never baked your bacon before, I think you’re in for a treat. After discovering the awesomeness that is oven baked bacon, I very rarely cook it in a skillet anymore unless it’s for something like country green beans or colcannon. By baking the bacon, it seems to cook more evenly, shrink less and, more importantly, not splatter all over your stove and having you dance around the kitchen while making the rest of breakfast. While it may be good exercise, I don’t know about you, but that’s not my idea of cardio first thing in the morning.
Moving on, here are the easy steps to get your bacon hearts put together. However, be sure to check back tomorrow. If you read my candied bacon footballs post, you know I love being crazy with bacon and even took these bacon hearts to the next level.
